The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Monday Okpebholo, has won the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday.
The results from 18 local government areas (LGAs) announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday shows that Okpebholo garnered a total of 291,667 votes. His closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), got 247,655 votes.
The Labour Party (LP) representative, Olumide Akpata, came third, he secured a total of 22,763 votes.
Following the above result, Okpebholo has emerged winner of the election.
The Edo PDP has however appealed to Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of INEC, to review the results collated for the governorship election before making the final announcement of the winner.
