The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON,
has commended the Hon. Minister of Art, Culture and the creative Economy, Barr.
Hannatu Musa- Musawa over the establishment of the Creative Economy Development
Fund and the implementation of the Intellectual Property Monetization Pilot.
The National President eagerly looks forward to the proper framework for the
payment of royalties and residuals, which was long overdue but described as a right
step in the right direction.
The National President also expressed his gratitude to the President of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the timely approval of the CEDF and the
Intellectual Property Implementation Pilot which marks significant milestones in the
growth and development process of the creative industry.
As an association of performers, we have been in the forefront of advocating for proper
implementation of the Intellection Property policy to yield benefits to practitioners.
The establishment of CEDF and IPIP will help in promoting skills and talent, sound and
articulate industrial relationships, fair contractual practices that will improve the
livelihoods of our performers whilst making the future of our industry more
sustainable.
Dr. Emeka concluded that President Tinubu has clearly shown his clear determination
and commitment to optimize the enormous opportunities in the creative industry
beneficial to both the practitioners and the national economy.
The National President looks forward to more cordial relationships with all the relevant
agencies under the Ministry to further strengthen the existing cooperations.
