Glitz, Glamour, as GAMA 2024 Ignites Lagos

The much-anticipated Global Affairs Magazine Awards GAMA2024 came to a thrilling conclusion on Friday, November 23rd at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

The exclusive event commenced with a star-studded red carpet, followed by the main ceremony that honored outstanding A-List changemakers who have made significant contributions across various sectors.

A-List celebrities, top government officials, and other high-profile personalities were treated to a night of elegance and purpose, at the 3rd edition of Global Affairs Magazine Awards that took centre stage in Lagos.

The night was filled with glitz, glamour, and outstanding performances from finest talents in the Nigeria music industries. The likes of Dr. Tee Mac Omatshola Iseli MFR, a renowned international flautist who also served as the chairman of the award screening committee. Pupa Orits Wiliki amongs others thrilled guests with classic music performance.

The awards night spotlighted trailblazers across diverse fields and also underlined humanitarian efforts and the critical role of innovation in driving sustainable development.

The high point of the event was the unveiling of the Global Affairs Magazine Foundation (GAMF) official theme song, “The World is Watching,” produced by renowned reggae artist Pupa Orits Williki and awarding of scholarships to 3 pupils from Global Dominion Schools. The epoch-making event underscored a powerful message about the critical role of supporting Nigerian youth. Regina Robinson, Convener of GAMA and CEO of Global Affairs Magazine, emphasized that the key to a brighter future for Nigeria lies in tackling the challenges faced by its young population. Speaking passionately about the importance of education, Robinson highlighted the organization’s commitment to providing scholarships to deserving, underprivileged students.

Robinson recounted how the initiative was born out of a direct encounter with children who had been sent out of school due to financial difficulties. Determined to make a difference, she and her team promised to support these students, thus planting the seed for their scholarship program. The initiative aims to sponsor qualified students who genuinely needs support to continue their education.

Speaking with journalists she posited; thus, “GAMA is a platform that promotes, rewards and celebrates human excellence in the care of mankind. The profound significance these awards hold for awardees will go a long way to let the world know that you begin to succeed with your life when the wellbeing of others matters to you.” She said.

The chairman of the day, Dr. Segun Alade Musa, former Lagos state gubernatorial candidate and refined philanthropist pledged an unending support for Global Affairs Magazine Foundation GAMF. He charged everyone to always do good to change the bad they see.

This year’s ceremony, themed “Global Impact Awards” was an evening brimming with inspiration, celebration and unforgettable moments.

The event honored a diverse array of changemakers who have made significant contributions across various sectors. Among the distinguished awardees were Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, Olorogun Obaigbena, Mr. Kayode Akintemi, Mr. Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, Global Transport Policy, and Hon. Lukman Oyewole Lawal. Other notable recipients included Mr. Fayoade Adegoke (AIG), Dr. Ebose Osegha, and philanthropists like Mr. Adenrele Oni, Nkechi Onyenso, Ajinomoto.

The groundbreaking event was compered by Koffi Tha Guru. Rufai Oseni of Arise TV as well as ace comedian, Alibaba were guest speakers while Mr. Madu C. Chikwendu was the keynote speaker.
