The Benin Film Academy has marked its 7th annual graduation/ festival of short films and Awards which held at the prestigious Kada Entertainment center, Benin city, Edo state, the event saw the premiere of short movies produced by the graduating students as well as presentations of BFA Medal of Honour to deserving Nollywood practitioners including the chairman of Edo state chapter of Actos guild of Nigeria Mr. Noel Opute, celebrated comedians Osemwota Efe (Pluto), Efosa Japheth Orobosa (young elder), Nollywood topflight Director and member of the Directors guild of Nigeria Lovebest Ebere Ogie , some past Benin film academy fast rising stars, Mr Joshua Nnedu, Miss Imadiyi Oghomwen.
Also awarded are Top Nollywood super star actress Miss Mary Igwe, Kelly Itohan Ogbiede and Princess Nike Adams.
The high point of the yearly event was the address by the Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada, represented by the DVC Prof Adeghe who lauded the partnership between Amb Dr. Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen and the premier private university in Nigeria for holding and building on the vision of training young people and providing them the necessary and needed practical skills to succeed in the Vast Nigeria Film industry otherwise called Nollywood!!
It will be recalled that the Benin film academy is the flagship hands on training institute serving the entire Niger/Delta, it was set up in January 2017 after an MOU was signed between the university and Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen’s Nollywood project 101.
